Prescription drugs have revolutionized the healthcare system in the United States and the world. Many of these medications have proven to be effective at slowing progression of diseases, increasing quality of life, and even saving lives. Few would argue that many of these medications are ‘miracles in the form of a pill.’
The miracles, however, come with a price and these prices continue to rise in a dramatic fashion every year leading one to wonder how much is too much. At the Evidence-based Prescription Drug Program (EBRx) we recognize the value that these medications bring to the healthcare picture and through our evidence driven recommendations, we encourage the utilization of the most clinically and cost effective medications.
The EBRx approach to developing a prescription medication Preferred Drug List (PDL) is currently being used in Arkansas by the Arkansas Medicaid Program.
Mission Statement
The mission of EBRx is to use published clinical evidence to drive the creation of a PDL for our clients. Through the use of the most clinically effective medications, the patient will receive the most efficacious prescription medications available. This will ultimately result in improving outcomes and controlling costs.
